As part of our list of projects for the new year we have decided to spend more time working with local charities/ organisations. We are now officially no longer a startup and it is time to be a little less self-centered and get involved with helping out others. We will be reviewing different projects and options in January 2018 so if you have any suggestions or recommendations please do get in touch with us: 0203 866 8931 or email here
In the meantime we invite everyone to give back a little this Christmas. Here are a few things we can all do:
- Download this app – Streetlink
If you see a person sleeping rough in England or Wales just send an alert to Streetlink. These details will automatically be sent to a local authority or outreach to offer them support.
- Shop for refugees at Choose Love
This beautiful charity pop-up shop in Soho sells life essential products for refugees. You can buy anything from a tent to a dictionary or a hygiene kit.
- Volunteer your time over Christmas link here
Crisis at Christmas is currently still looking for volunteers- healthcare professionals, hairdressers, IT professionals, musicians, or basically anyone who wants to help.
- Buy a homeless person a Crisis Christmas Gift link here
Select one of the cards/tickets on their online page and write an email to the person you buy the ticket for. This ticket will provide someone a place at Crisis at Christmas which includes clean clothes, health checks, advice on housing and employment, a Christmas dinner and access to their year-round services. A great gift for your friends/family too.
- Donate food at your local food bank link here
There are hundreds of food banks across the country, find your local one and get involved.
- Consider becoming a Befriender in the new year link here
Etc….! There are so many ways for you to improve someone’s life and you don’t even have to go through organisations; being a little bit more attentive to others can really make a difference.
Do some research, find a charity or organisation that suits you, and go for it!
